HongKong is amazing!!
After a twelve hour flight with no sleep I took the airportlink train to the centre and started my jouney looking for the busline to take a ride along the coast of HongKong island. I got very annoid with the backpack as it was to heavy to carry around and did not find a locker and the urge to see Hongkong was bigger than searching for the hostel (checkin time was 15:00) so had to fill 4 hours sightseeing with 17 kilo's of luggage..first stop was Stanley Market and had a rest on a terras with loads of coffee to stay awake. The sun was shining so bright..After the rest I thought it was wise to get rid of my luggage and checkin the hostel and go back to Central...For me it was clearly I was the only backpacker around - it was hard to find the shuttle bus to the hostel.....I had a hard moment there suffering jetlag and hurting back and muscles of carrying the luggage but stubborn paying lot of money for a proper 4 star hotel.. So kept asking people if they knew were the busstop was..Finally some dutch expats (living in Korea!!) helped me out sharing a taxi as they were curious what hostel Mt. Davis looked like...haha it was on top of a hill called Davis even the taxi driver could not find it but after phoning the hostel it was no problem (the taxiguy could not read english and the adress had to be written in Chinese..!!)
Next day....after a good sleep and shower in the hostel (100 HongKong dollar!!! = 11 euro for a bed) Already getting a bit used of travelling alone making my own decisions and once in a while walking with a smile on my face seeing all those crazy buzy business chinese people running around the city. Sometimes talking and discussing with myself wether to go this way or that way..
Discover HongKong .. shopping paradise!! If I'd known the prices of clothes and shampoo and stuff Id not bring a backpack full of heavy things to a huge metropole like HongKong..
I went to the longest Escalator of the world and walked around HongKong park..and saw loads of Chinese shops in Soho and walking along the footbridges between the chinese office people with ties and suits; the footbridges connect the skyscrapers with eachother. In these buildings are a lot of offices like Canon, HP, Conrad etc. and reside a lot of Shopping Malls. All very luxury and lot of christmass decorations. I preffer walking instead of using the underground as I wanted to breathe the hongkong experience..(despite of the smog and foggy weather) at a temperature of 24 degrees celcius.
In the afternoon it started to rain and decided to checkout more shops, the tourist guide advised me to take the boot and shop in Kowloon. So I took the star ferry to Kowloon - again for some shopping - see the picture.
Eating chinese food for 4 HK dollar (approx. 2,50 euro) without getting sick, heh! I turned down the offers of chinese ladies to do a footmassage, although I really badly needed one! At night I had to go back to the airport say goodbye to HK and Check-in for Sydney...another 9 hours to fly.....
